Jenny Bucknell - Fit Fabulous and in her Forties smashes 4 national Masters Short Course records in her 40 - 44 year Age Group.

Jennie Bucknell, 43 year old 'wonder mum', smashed 4 Masters National Records for her 40 to 44 year old age group whilst competing at the Victorian State Open Swimming Championships on the weekend.  Competing against swimmers more than 20 years younger, Jenny showed her versatility by breaking the 50m Freestyle, Butterfly and Backstroke records, slicing a whopping 0.84 off the latter.

Her most satisfying swim however came in the 100m Freestyle where she smashed Australian swimming legend Shane Gould's record by nearly a second, going under the one minute barrier for the first time.  It was a lifetime personal best for Jenny by nearly 2 seconds.  Jenny's time of 59.67 placed her a credible 7th against the best, (and considerably younger) swimmers in Victoria.

A seasoned Masters swimmer (competing with Australia's premier masters club Powerpoints) , Jennie won numerous medals at the World Masters Swimming Championships in Perth last year.   Competing for the MH2O Swimming Club for the first time, Jennie was talked into racing these championships by her coach Anita Killmier.

Anita said "I love the idea of my older and younger swimmers training together as they act as such good role models and mentors to the younger kids in our program.  The kids don't like being beaten in training by the ‘oldies' so the competition in the training pool some days is intense.  I thought it would be great for the broader swimming community to also see these older swimmers in action and to realise that swimming can be a sport for life.  They don't have to retire, and they can come back to it at any time in the future if they do."
