Melbourne H2O Swimming Club have 3 squad levels.
Novice Squads: Swimmers must be able to complete at least 25 metres of Freestyle and have the rudiments of a second stroke. They are suitable for those returning from illness or injury, those who are unfit and those who require major stroke development. Sessions are for 60 minutes where the strokes are taught, in particular building the foundations that underpin the strokes. Drills are taught, along with training protocols and regimes to improve fitness. Fins will be used to allow effortless swimming whilst improving technique and assisting fitness. Swimmers will complete between 500m and 1500m per session. Payment is made by the term in advance. School holidays are closed.
Intermediate Squads: Swimmers are likely to have swum in a squad sometime in the past and already have an understanding of training regimes including reading the pace clock. They will be able to swim at least 200 metres of Freestyle continuously and be capable at another stroke. Swimmers will complete 1500m upward to 3km per session. Butterfly will be taught and other strokes will have continuous refinement. Skills like as diving and tumble turns will be taught. Many swimmers will be training for ocean swims or triathlons or have other goals.
Advanced Squads: Entry to these squads are by invitation as spaces are limited and some sessions are full. Time limits apply. Swimmers train for fitness and performance goals such as Marathon swimming and Masters Championships. Session distances will vary between 3.5 to 5km on average, depending on the phase of the season. Sessions are year round and paid via monthly Direct Debit.
Note: Swimmers in another Masters Swim Club must be a first claim member with MH2O Swimming Club, but can be a second claim member with their other club.

Anita I would also like to take this opportunity to thank you for your invaluable advice in relation to my swimming as well as your professional approach to the training sessions. I really appreciated this and your technical advice about my stroke was the best information and feedback I’ve ever received.

“The ocean was the best place, of course.
That was what she loved most.
It was a feeling of freedom like no other, and yet a feeling of communion with all the other places and creatures the water touched.”
